My story
I’m taking on the Yorkshire Dales Mighty Hike full marathon on 27 June 2026 and hoping to raise £1500 in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, because no one should have to face cancer alone.
Dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the oesophagus on 30 January this year, he died on 6 November. The care and support he and us as a family received from MacMillan was excellent, especially the MacMillan nurse who coordinated his treatment during his final few days.
Earlier this year when I completed my first ever Mighty Hike, my fundraising target was £250 and I raised over £1100 thanks to the amazing generosity of those that sponsored me. For this year’s event I've got organised early and have set an initial target of £1500 which I intend to smash! For those that have donated already or plan on donating thank you so much, you’re all stars. When you donate please select to add Gift Aid so that for every £1.00 donated MacMillan can claim an extra 25p from the government at no cost to you.
Also please share my page where you can or just the QR code on your social media so that I can reach as many people as possible.
Today, almost 3.5 million people in the UK are living with cancer, a figure that's growing steadily. Macmillan’s goal is to be there from diagnosis through every step of the journey.
Your donation, no matter the size, will help ensure that no one has to face cancer without the care, compassion, and expert support they deserve.
Together, we can make a Mighty difference.
