My story
3 brothers, 26 miles, 1 incredible cause, 0 excuses (except blisters)
On September 12th, I’m lacing up my walking boots and joining my two brothers to take on the Macmillan Cotswolds Mighty Marathon Hike. A full 26 miles through hills, mud, and whatever weather the Great British climate throws at us!
Why am I taking this on? Honestly, it’s a mix of personal challenge and sibling solidarity. I want to push my own fitness to the limit (and see if our brotherly banter lasts longer than our stamina!), but above all, I'm doing this to support the extraordinary work of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Fortunately, our immediate family hasn’t needed Macmillan’s direct care. But like so many of you, we’ve watched close friends and loved ones fight their own battles with cancer. We’ve celebrated the incredible victories with those who came through the other side, and we’ve grieved for the wonderful people who sadly lost their fight.
Cancer touches almost everyone eventually, but no one should have to navigate it alone. Macmillan is there from day one, providing expert guidance, emotional support, and practical help when people need it most.
Taking on 26 miles in a single day is definitely going to test me - my legs aren't as young as they used to be! But every sore muscle will be 100% worth it if I can hit my fundraising target for a charity that means so much to so many.
Any support you can manage, no matter the size, will mean the world to me and even more to the families Macmillan supports every day. If you’re able to chip in and help push me (and my brothers!) across that finish line, please consider donating via the link below.
Thank you so much for your support!
