Peak District Mighty Hike Full Marathon

18th July 2026

My story

I’m taking on the Peak District Mighty Hike, pushing my limits to raise £250 in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, because no one should have to face cancer alone.

Today, almost 3.5 million people in the UK are living with cancer, a figure that's growing steadily. Macmillan’s goal is to be there from diagnosis through every step of the journey.

That’s where we come in.

Your donation, no matter the size, will help ensure that no one has to face cancer without the care, compassion, and expert support they deserve.

Together, we can make a Mighty difference.

I will be taking part in this hike to help raise money for the Macmillian Nurses. They supported my Nan throughout her cancer journey and were there at every step of the way until she passed away suddenly and peacefully in September 2025. She started her 2nd cancer journey back in 2019 which began with daily radio therapy to remove a cancerous tumor in her shoulder. Unfortunately she was then diagnosed with peritoneal cancer and continued her cancer fight undergoing several courses of chemotherapy which took its tole on her health and eventually was put onto palliative care when her treatment was no longer being effective.
Throughout the whole journey Macmillian nurses were there with her for any help she needed. Whether it being attending the 1st oncology appointment, helping arrange district nurse visit, assisting with sorting out financial aid, helping with arranging mobility aids and connecting with occupational health and even being there in her the final moments at the hospital giving advice and showing an empathy that only experts know how to deliver.

I can honestly say Macmillion nurses helped my Nan deal with her cancer battle with bravery and grace, giving her emotional support and showing kindness and reminding us that we are in this together!

Any money you can give toward Macmillan will make a huge difference towards the care and support they offer to someone who is fighting against cancer.
