My story
Myself, Gill and Martin are taking on the Northumberland Coast Mighty Hike in memory of Annie Caulfield and Ryder Gledhill. Gill and I have been friends since our early twenties. We didn’t know then that in the future we would both lose much loved siblings to cancer; Gill her brother Ryder and me my sister Annie. Irreplaceable older siblings.
Also walking with us is my sister’s partner Martin. Martin and Annie were such a happy couple, I don’t know quite how he has got through this.He has been a welcome addition to our family and we have all gained much comfort from reminiscing and telling stories about Annie.
Talking and laughing about Annie is as close as we get to spending time with her again.
Martin knows the day to day vital help that Macmillan gave to him and to Annie. Annie left us far too soon but Macmillan helped her to die peacefully, to enjoy her last weeks; without pain and surrounded by people who loved her.
Gill’s brother was living in America so Gill had to help him navigate all the healthcare providers, care and treatments without the help of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Gill and I have already walked the West Highland Way with two other friends for Macmillan and raised £18k. But 97 miles in 4 days nearly broke us. So its really great to be able to raise money again for Macmillan on a Mighty Hike, 25 miles in a day will be tough but more within our capabilities!
We're pushing ourselves to the limits to raise £3000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, because no one should have to face cancer alone.
Today, almost 3.5 million people in the UK are living with cancer, a figure that's growing steadily. Macmillan’s goal is to be there from diagnosis through every step of the journey.
That’s where we come in.
Your donation, no matter the size, will help ensure that no one has to face cancer without the care, compassion, and expert support they deserve.
Together, we can make a Mighty difference.
