My story
On Saturday 27th June, my son Jaydon, my sister-in-law Natalie, and I took on the 26-mile Gower Mighty Hike in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, and it really tested us.
We completely underestimated how hard it would be. It was nothing like the challenge I did a few years ago. We were climbing down steep cliffs and then straight back up again, walking miles through deep sand where it felt like our feet weren't moving, all in the scorching heat.
At 17 miles, I broke down and cried. I rang my husband James and told him I didn't know if I could carry on. He told me I'd already done amazingly well and that if I stopped, it wouldn't mean I'd failed. After speaking to him, I found the strength to keep going and push through to the finish.
The last six miles were brutal. Natalie and Jaydon could barely move their legs and were hobbling, but they refused to give up. I honestly couldn't be prouder of all of us.
But what we went through that day is nothing compared to the fight, pain, and challenges that people living with cancer face every single day.
Three years ago, my brother was diagnosed with cancer, and Macmillan Cancer Support was there for him and our family when we needed them most. The support they provide during such a difficult time is invaluable, and taking on this challenge was our way of giving something back.
That's why we did it—to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, so they can continue helping people and their families when they need it most.
If you're able to donate, no matter how big or small, it would mean the world to us. Every donation helps Macmillan continue their incredible work, supporting people through one of the toughest times in their lives.
Thank you so much for your support. 💚
