My story
In 2026, 1 in 2 adults in the uk will get some form of cancer in their lifetimes. Whilst the mortality rate has decreased and detection methods have gotten better, that’s a scary, earth shattering statistic.
For those of you who won’t know, In the summer of 2025, my nan had various hospital visits, in and out for weeks at a time undergoing tests and care, before finding out the unfortunately news of ovarian cancer. With this, alongside her Crohn’s disease, it’s taking all of her strength to keep fighting. For us as a family, we’re unfortunately never going to get the all clear, but with early detection methods of the modern day, catching cancer early is something that can be done with support from us all.
And even though I can’t make a difference day to day, I’m doing what I think I can to make a difference somewhere. I’m taking on the Lake District Mighty Hike, pushing my limits to raise £250+ in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, because no one should have to face cancer alone.
Today, almost 3.5 million people in the UK are living with cancer, a figure that's growing steadily. Macmillan’s goal is to be there from diagnosis through every step of the journey.
Together, we can make a Mighty difference.
