My story
At the beginning of February this year, my family’s world was turned upside down when my youngest daughter Olivia was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma Blood Cancer. At the age of just 26, her life was put on pause and the stories we only ever saw on TV, became our reality. When Olivia was first diagnosed, MacMillan Cancer Support was there to help her better understand her diagnosis and process what was happening to her. Since then, I have watched my daughter suffer through many different physical and mental challenges, from receiving chemotherapy treatment and losing her hair, to navigating her new way of living whilst fighting Cancer. Although it has been tough and frightening, she has shown amazing strength and resilience through it all and she couldn’t have done it without the help of MacMillan. It is for this reason that I have decided to take on the Mighty Hike, to raise money for an amazing charity so that they can continue to support people like my daughter whose lives have been turned upside down.
