My story
I’m taking on the Mighty Hike for Macmillan — a full marathon, and definitely a challenge.
But it’s nothing compared to the battles my dad has faced over the past 10 years.
I’ve seen him struggle, both physically and mentally. I’ve watched him go through multiple cancer diagnoses, treatments, setbacks and recovery. I’ve seen the toll it can take. But I’ve also seen something even stronger.
Resilience.
At 81, after facing throat cancer and bladder cancer — and even after his throat cancer returned — he is now cancer free. He lives with a voice box and a stoma bag, but he has never let that define him.
He continues to live life to the full. He keeps going. He keeps smiling. He keeps fighting.
He is one of the strongest people I know and a true inspiration to our whole family.
“Live for today” is something he truly lives by.
The support from Macmillan Cancer Support has meant so much to us over the years, and this hike is our way of giving something back so other families can receive that same care and compassion.
This marathon will be tough — but it’s for him. 💚
If you can donate, we would be so grateful.
